Dal stuffed Aloo Tikki

Dal stuffed Aloo Tikki

Dal stuffed alu tikki is crispy from outside and soft from inside. I add little bit of poha to my alu patty which makes it extra crispy. Dal stuffing inside is pretty simple but just need correct texture. Also, if you want skip adding any hot spices in tikki for kids do that but then make green chutney spicy so that adults can enjoy with chutney and kids can enjoy with ketchup. It is a perfect appetizer for any indian dinner party. Hope you enjoy this dish as much as my family and my guests did :)

There are many ways you can serve it, I wish I had few other pics for the post but will ass it whenever I make it again in future. But here are few creative ideas to serve it:

  • Long platter like I did overlapping each other slightly and then top it with green and meethi chutney
  • Use pattal dona bowl if you can find it in your indian store and serve as individual serving in that, it's one of my favorite ways to serve in party where people are snacking multiple finger foods and for that I keep the size little bit small than what I have in this post.
  • Shape it long cylindrical shape and serve it in shot glass with chutney at bottom

Ingredients

Instructions

    • Soak Poha in little bit of water for 10 min
    • Boil, peel and grate potatoes (grating them will help make dough smooth)
    • Mix grated potatoes, soaked poha and salt as per taste, mix well and it will look like a dough. Keep it on side.
    • Boil chana dal with very less water and just enough to cook but not get mushy (in Ip I boiled for 5 min and the QR after 5 min) tamper dal with oil, turmeric powder, salt, red pepper, then add chaat masala (don’t make it mushy just cooked enough but you should have dal pieces separating out)
    • Now your outside shell dough and filling both are ready
    • Take a small ball of potato poha dough and spread it a little in hand to make space for filling (Grease hand with either oil or water if needed)  add little bit of dal filling and then gently close from all sides and shallow fry it with oil, you can also air-fry for less oily version.
    • Top it with green chutney and tamarind chutney and Enjoy :)
